Leading a team of five responsible for supporting and implementing 30+ software applications, plus multiple concurrent projects — far more demand than capacity in a resource-constrained environment.
Role
Owns the prioritization framework for the entire technology portfolio.
Action
Built a prioritization process weighing the relative importance and urgency of each task, project, and software system against the organization's strategic objectives. Implemented a structured task management system for visibility into workload and project status. Rationalized the software portfolio by retiring legacy systems rather than letting the application count become unmanageable, and added a change management process to evaluate the impact and feasibility of new implementations before committing resources.
Outcome
Reduced the maintenance burden on the team, kept resources aligned with the initiatives that delivered the most value, and maintained clear focus on Bi-State Development's most critical needs without overextending the team's capacity.
