Turning a two-room filing cabinet nightmare into a paperless system.
Problem
A remote office facing relocation was confronted with the task of moving two rooms full of physical filing cabinets. The business unit didn't want to undertake the process, and there was no existing plan for handling it electronically.
Role
Evaluated document management options and led both the technical and organizational sides of the rollout.
Action
Selected the M-Files platform after exploring multiple electronic document management options. Worked closely with the business unit and the vendor to configure the document vault and establish a workflow for managing documents electronically, then collaborated with the team to bulk-load the scanned documents into the system.
Outcome
The business unit now uses M-Files daily — scanning and managing documents electronically, with no physical filing cabinets or associated storage and retrieval challenges. The approach also opened the door to evaluating no-code/low-code platforms as a next step for empowering business users to build their own applications.
